When we said we should respond to the grand problem of human trafficking, we often think of serving the victimised. However, the experience of frontline workers reminds us that the traffickers, though evil, also possess God’s image and are as deprived of care and love as the victims.

“Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.” Genesis 2:8
God created the world in order, all creatures were made according to their kinds and God saw them as good. The Garden of Eden manifested God’s intention for His creations. “Eden” has the meaning of “delight or pleasure” in Hebrew. Yet, Adam and Eve sinned against God and were driven out of the Garden. Immediately after their fall, they experienced poverty and hardships, and fell into the cycle of sin. The value of people were degraded and some of them have even been put on a price and sold to others…This was not God’s intention.

The election of the Chief Executive of Hong Kong is imminent. Though most of the Hong Kong residents (besides the 1,200 voting committees) do not have the power to vote, they are still following each candidate closely and are engaging in intense discussions each day.
At the 70th annual World Health Assembly in May 2017, member states will vote in a new director general for the World Health Organization (WHO-DG), who will take office on 1 July 2017.
Currently there are six candidates for the post, four from Europe, and one each from Africa and Asia. They will face a tough task in proving to the world that the WHO is still competent in delivering global health, particularly given the criticism it received after 11,000 people died during the Ebola outbreak.
There is an uneven distribution of food in the world. There is a huge amount of surplus food in the rich countries that are thrown away every day. In the report by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN published in 2011, 1/3 of food fit for human consumption was wasted away, totaling 1.3 billion tonnes. But in the poor countries, many people struggle to have enough food, or suffer from under-nutrition.
Thailand holds thousands of migrant children in detention each year, causing them physical and emotional harm, Human Rights Watch said in a report released in early September. Child migrants and asylum seekers are unnecessarily held in squalid immigration facilities, suffering in filthy, overcrowded cells without adequate nutrition, education, or exercise space.
