Free Again—The Lydia Project in the Slums of India

If you put sheets of raw materials into grinders, weigh them and put them into molds, so on with a total of 22 steps, you would have produced the pads necessary for every woman during her menstrual period. Pushpa was able to learn these steps and sustain her family by selling self-made pads with the help of the Lydia Center in New Delhi, India.

Heavy Floods in Nepal and Northern India Calls for Emergency Relief

Heavy rains and floods were reported in Nepal last week, and now the affected areas are extended to include the northern parts of India. Thirty five provinces of Nepal are experiencing floods and landslides which affected nearly 13,000 families, destroying 6,800 homes. In India, more than 2.7 million people in the northern provinces of Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal were affected by the prolonged precipitation.

CEDAR Gives Full Support in India Drought Relief Work

Three hundred million people are now suffering from the severe drought in India. CEDAR gives full support in partner’s relief work.

India is currently facing the worst drought in four decades. EFICOR staff stated that since 2014, the amount of rainfall has declined. Resources in the country is extremely limited, and the enduring high temperatures destroy crops and kill livestock; water storage levels in wells, ponds and dams have also been decreasing.

Monsoon Rain in South Asia – both a blessing and a curse

The coming of the monsoons signals a relief from the deadly scorching heat wave that was seen in the region of South Asia earlier on in May and June. However, the monsoon together with the cyclone “Komen” this year has brought widespread devastation in India, Myanmar, Pakistan and Vietnam leaving more than 300 people dead in the region.
