Please Remember Full Moon Ministry in Myanmar

[ePrayer – Pray for Full Moon ministry in Myanmar]

eprayer20130920-c2

Pray for partner Full Moon as they negotiate with local government offices and customs on the importation of solar equipment donated by an Indian charity group without the need to pay taxes. Government procedures are very complicated. These solar panels are donated to women from Mon and Bago who joined a solar engineering training in India. Even safe inland transportation of the equipment is difficult to guarantee. In Bague mountainous region needs to transport by cow cart.

Pray for Full Moon ministry in Myanmar:

  • Pray for God’s clear leading and provision;
  • Pray for strength and wisdom as partner deal with many government offices and at the same time working on the planning of a 3-year Agricultural training and farming project.

The Violence in Myanmar Bringing Negative Impact on Children

[ePrayer – Pray for Myanmar’s Rakhine State]

Valerie Amos Visits Myanmar

Since June 2012, Rakhine State in Myanmar has been the site of inter-communal violence and caused tens of thousands of people displaced. The latest wave of violence broke out on 29 September in the southern town of Thandwe subsequently spread to several townships. Deaths have been reported, along with the destruction of some 110 homes. It also caused a new wave of displacement of families and added to the fears of those displaced last year. UNICEF is concerned that displacement puts children at greater risk of family separation and domestic violence, they miss out on schooling and too frequently they experience physical and emotional damage. Besides, the polarization resulting from ongoing inter-communal violence could stall or put the many important reform processes currently underway in Myanmar at risk, with negative repercussions for all of Myanmar’s children. Therefore, peace-building and reconciliation activities must be prioritized in view of children’s rights and future. [UNICEF]

Pray for Myanmar’s Rakhine State :

  • Pray for an end to the violence in the areas and reconciliation between different groups;
  • Remember those children and families which are affected and displaced due to the violence;
  • Pray also for protection of the children’s rights and future.

Remember the Migrant Workers in N. Thailand

[ePrayer – Pray for migrant workers in N. Thailand]

eprayer20131017-c1

Our partner’s Mekong Migrant Foundation (MMF) reaches out to migrant workers in need through providing different supports such as legal support to Burmese migrant workers on issues related to work permits & registration, processing labour disputes and reconciliation. MMF has been very busy recently working on a case which involved over 200 migrant workers at a garment factory in Mae Sai. Give thanks that most of the workers recovered their unpaid wages, passports, and work permits from their employer. During last year there has been more cooperative effort between MMF and the local Labor Protection and Welfare Office.

Pray for migrant workers in N. Thailand:

  • Pray that a number of suggestions related to migrant workers’ interests and rights that MMF gave to the Labour Protection and Welfare Office will be considered and adopted, e.g. related official department should have a translator to strengthen the communication with migrant workers;
  • Remember MMF as they provide different supports to the migrant workers easing their difficulties.

Burmese Project Villages Pioneer in Solar Energy

[ePrayer – Pray for Solar energy in Myanmar]

eprayer20130920-c2

Six months ago 4 mothers from a CEDAR sponsored ‘Protection & Reintegration of Children Programme’ in Mon State was the first batch in the country to be selected to join a renowned 6-month training on solar engineering in India. Despite much difficulty and adjustments, they have successfully completed the training and returned this week. A Press Conference was held with speeches from ministerial offices, Consulate of India Embassy and sharing by the women. Thank God that He has protected their families during the time they were away & that they had overcome all challenges, obstacles in living in a new environment, new place, new food and languages! May God greatly use them and bless their villages. Solar panels and equipment will arrive Myanmar next month and will be set up in the main TWT village.

Pray for Solar energy in Myanmar:

  • Praise God that children will have light to study in the night; TWT is becoming a model village in the country and the whole village will be lightened up!
  • Pray that more and more villages can have access to lighting and electricity.

Habakkuk 1: 2- 3

How long, LORD, must I call for help, but you do not listen? Or cry out to you, ‘Violence!’ but you do not save?

Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds. (NIV)

For decades the Myanmar government armed forces and opposing non-state armed groups have engaged in armed conflict. The frequent occurrence and brutality of reported human rights violations by these armed forces caused us to cry out like Prophet Habakkuk. Why do the innocent suffer and perish? We ask God to intervene yet violence and abuses prevail. Over the years CEDAR has supported partners operating in conflict affected areas in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, just to name a few. I am reminded by the book of Habakkuk that in face of conflict situation, we may be perplexed yet God is continuing His work. In the midst of violence and destruction, development is possible.
