Go Further to Serve the Orphans and Widows in Zimbabwe

[ePrayer – Pray for partner Trinity]

eprayer20130920-c1

CEDAR’s partner Trinity in Zimbabwe used to operate as a Trust to strive for the rights of the widows and orphans in the HIV/AIDS affected families. Give thanks that they are recognised as a PVO (Private Voluntary Organization) in Sep 2013. In 2012 – 2013, Trinity assisted 137 children to attain their legal status. Some health centers release birth confirmation records at no charge as a result of the lobbying of Trinity. They are now exploring the needs of rural areas in other areas, and also expanding the project from being only legal consultation to income generation & skills training.

Pray for partner Trinity:

  • Pray for His guidance in the direction of Trinity. Pray that Trinity will be sensitive to the needs of the families and assist them to advocate for their rights. Pray that more government departments will be willing to provide free and convenient services
  • Pray for His provision. As most deprived families lack money to pursue their cases, Trinity needs more financial resources. Their most immediate need is a project vehicle and also funds to pay the salaries of their staffs.

The Letter from CEDAR | April 2013

Yunnan pastors map out the progress and achievement to evaluators on their social ministries in the past six years.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:

In early March, CEDAR invited several experienced development workers to evaluate our six-year Church Mobilisation programme in Yunnan, China. Their findings and appreciation give us great encouragement.

Ethiopia AAGC Children Basic Needs Programme

[ ‘SHARE’ Nov-Dec 2012 – Care for Children ~ ‘Join Hands Join Hearts’ ] STEP INTO THE WORLD

What dreams do children have? Alem from Ethiopia dreams of having three meals a day, going to school and owning a pair of shoes.

Alem’s  family faces a difficult life. Many households are slum dwellers, and some children cannot afford sufficient food or education because their parents are separated or have died from illness.

CEDAR’s partner Addis Ababa Guenet Church (AAGC) distributes food and daily supplies, provides medical services and education to about 200 children in need, and teach older ones  a skill. Further, AAGC encourages parents to attend self-help groups to learn money saving and management, and increase family income by starting their own businesses with small loans.

With the help of AAGC, Alem is now in Grade 8, well fed and clothed. Are you willing to make a donation so that more children like Alem can have their dreams fulfilled?

HK$500> enables one parent to attend self-help group, learn to save money and basic skills.
HK$200> meets a child’s basic monthly expenses, such as school, food, clothes and medical support.

Community Health and Education Programme in Nepal

[ “SHARE” Sept-Oct 2012 – An Eye-Opening Experience of Poverty ] STEP INTO THE WORLD

Ram Maya lives in the mountainous area in Dhading, Nepal. She suffered from discrimination and poverty because she is Dalit. Since installing an Eco toilet set up to collect urine for organic farming, she has been enjoying very good harvests and earning good income.

With no official assistance to provide proper roads, water supply and medical care, the marginalised communities in Dhading’s mountainous areas live a desperate existence, and are often vulnerable to skin diseases, diarrhoea and fever.

CEDAR’s partner Shanti Nepal helps raise villagers’ awareness of health and hygiene, improve health care and basic medical facilities, generate income for better food security and build up support networks through community health and education programme.

With your support:

HK$250 will subsidise a household to build a toilet;
HK$500 will provide two basic health sessions for mothers’ groups;
HK$1,000 will provide four training sessions on livelihood skills to community groups

Please help support our partner’s community health and education programme to improve the lives of these marginalised communities.
