Development among Rural Community in Orissa, India Get Progress

[ePrayer – Pray for the Rural Community Development in India]

india1212a_Fotor

Partner EFICOR, in partnership with SCOPE, launched community development projects aiming at sustainable livelihood and capacity building in villages in Orissa, India, where most of the villagers are illiterate, lack of new agricultural skills, and face difficulty in transportation. CEDAR has supported this programme since 2008.

Thanks to our God that through the work of our partner EFICOR in India, there are 43 adults in the project’s villages who can now read and write simple Oriya alphabets & important words. Many of them now understand the importance of education and are willing to arrange their children to schools. In the past, the poor farmers got to work far from home after the harvest season. But now, they take the initiative to form groups in applying jobs under the government scheme. So as a result, the seasonal migration has decreased by 20%. In addition, thanks God that staff of SCOPE are now capable to manage on financial management & documentation independently after training.

Pray for the Rural Community Development Projects in India:

  • Due to high temperature & water scarcity, villagers urgently need watershed development & advocacy with the government on water issue. May God lead the project of watershed development and let more people show concern to this matter.

Remember Zimbabwe HIV/AIDS Orphans and Families

[ePrayer – Pray for HIV/AIDS Orphans’ Families in Zimbabwe]

Zimbabwe1212_Fotor

CEDAR’s partner Family AIDS Caring Trust (FACT) is putting its most efforts in Zimbabwe to care and receive HIV/AIDS-affected families and HIV/AIDS orphans. Recently due to a need arisen from service expansion, a new pastor has joined coordinating the caring work in Sakubva District. Long-term food shortage is still a problem in most families and many families can only have 1-2 simple meals per day. As such, FACT is now working very hard on introducing ‘livelihood assistance’ element into all its mainstream projects, for instance, the Income Saving & Lending (ISAL) programme. In ISAL, the participants are divided into different groups. Each group then agrees on an amount of money to save every month by every group member. The pool is then available for any group member in need who wants to operate a business of his/her own.

Pray for HIV/AIDS Orphans’ Families in Zimbabwe:

  • May our Lord help and strengthen the newly joined pastor so he can quickly adjust into the ministries.
  • May our Lord provide for all the needs (especially food) of our beneficiaries and maintain their well being.
  • May our Lord use the ISAL programme to support and enrich the guardians of the HIV/AIDS orphans.

Concern for Children Detained in Mali’s Prison

[ePrayer – Pray for Detained Children in Mali]

Malian authorities must release children detained in prison_Fotor

5 children have been detained in a military detection center for over seven months, and they range between the ages of 15 to 17 years old. They were detained because one is a child soldier who joined the Movement for Oneness and Jihad (MUJAO), and the other four were suspected of having links to armed groups.

An Amnesty International delegation led by Secretary General, Salil Shetty said, “The children and adults are detained in the same prison and this is a very serious problem, dangerous to the children! This is totally against the national and international law of human right .” There was once a 15 years old boy joining the Jihad because of extreme poverty, but later was arrested by the Malian security forces. They tied him up, beat him in the back and blindfolded him. In fact, violations of human rights occur frequently, no matter if the victims are directly and indirectly involved in the Jihad. The victims had to face unlawful killings, indefinite detention, rape and sexual abuse, and many of them end up disappearing without any trace.

Since July 2013, the United Nation has announced that all children involved in armed groups need to be protected and escorted. [Amnesty]

Pray for Detained Children in Mali:

  • May all the children involving in armed groups, receive real protection, freedom and be freed.
  • May God have mercy on the children, that their total-being receive love and care, and a healthy lifestyle restored.
  • May the government have a real concern about the problem in human rights, and that all lives be respected.

India’s Candlelight Vigil for Stopping Human Trafficking

[ePrayer – Pray for India’s Candlelight Vigil for Stopping Human Trafficking]

India is the origin, in-transit, as well as the destination country of adults and children subjected to forced labour and sex trafficking. The Ministry of Home Affairs in India estimates that 90 percent of the victims in sex trafficking are locals. Many NGOs also observe that human trafficking is increasing in the areas in which they work.

Churches of India held a candlelight vigil in Delhi on 12 December, asking God to bring an end to all forms of human trafficking and to restore the freedom and dignity of millions.

Pray for the Current Situation of Human Trafficking in India:

  • May our God have mercy on the victims, let them receive the real freedom and protection, and their total-being be healed.
  • May our God direct the believers in every area to work together, live as the light and salt in this unjust and poor society, and bring God’s love to the victims.
  • May all human beings have “the image of God” restored, that everybody respect and treasure each other.
