The Plight of Undocumented Children in European Union

[ePrayer – Pray for the situation of undocumented children]

Palestinian children fly kites to show their solidarity with the Japanese people a year after the earthquake and tsunami.

It is estimated that there are between 1.6 and 3.8 million irregular migrants in the European Union. Many of them are children. Most come from other European countries like Turkey, Hungary and Romania, but a large number also come from Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. The reason for migration includes family reunification, protection from persecution, better living conditions, education and economic opportunities. A large number of these undocumented children, mostly from Hungary and Romania, are also victims of trafficking. They can be exploited in prostitution, forced labour, organised begging and can be compelled to commit crimes. [IPS]

Pray for the situation of undocumented children:

  • Pray that the basic human rights of these Europe’s ‘invisible’ children can be protected.
  • Pray also that they can have access to education, healthcare and shelter.
  • Pray that there can be effective measures to combat human trafficking and to reduce the risk of children.

Rwanda Unable to Accept Congolese Refugees

[ePrayer – Pray for the Congolese refugees]

eprayer20130404-n2

Camps in Rwanda hosting thousands of refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are running out of space following an influx of people fleeing insecurity in eastern DRC. Rwanda is hosting thousands of Congolese refugees in five sites. At least 25,000 Congolese entered Rwanda from eastern DRC in 2012. The influx added to the approximately 43,000 refugees – mainly Congolese – already in the country. According to UNHCR, the security situation in DRC limits the refugees’ prospects for return. Rwandan official expressed a need to find alternative solutions since the existing camps have been declared full. [IRIN]

Pray for the Congolese refugees:

  • Pray for God’s protection to the refugees in the Rwanda.
  • Pray for long lasting peace in DRC and Congolese so that people do not need to escape their home country.

New Opportunities for Post-conflict Resettlement in Myanmar

[ePrayer – Pray for the Myanmar resettlement project]

eprayer20130404-c1

In the past few decades, there were continuous conflicts between the Karen and Burmese government army in the mountainous areas in Mon State, causing countless deaths and injuries. A year ago, the Burmese government went through a big reform and ceased the fire, bringing peace to Karen people. CEDAR supports local partner to implement post-conflict resettlement project there.

Give thanks that 4 ladies from a protection and resettlement programme in Mon State were selected to spend 6 months in India to receive training on solar engineering! They are the first group in the country to receive this training opportunity. Three agricultural experts will carry out a habitat assessment and data analysis to provide discussion and develop action plans on watershed management and agroforestry to 4 project villages in Mon State.

Pray for the Myanmar resettlement project:

  • Pray for the ladies’ adjustment, time of learning and their families back home.
  • Pray that through the exchange and training local villagers and leaders can result in a blueprint of how best to protect and improve the water quality and other natural resources in the watershed.
  • Pray for partner’s logistical arrangement and coordination with local leadership and related authorities.

Remember the Needs of Lesotho Children Ministry

[ePrayer – Pray for the children ministry in Lesotho]

eprayer20130404-c2

CEDAR’s partner Joy to the World provides school education and girls’ hostel service in Lesotho. Thank God that there has been increased in enrollment in pre-school, primary and high school. There is a new principal in High School. The students are making good progress and achieved good results. The school had laid down its plans to move forward including bringing many children to Jesus and improving their moral values. As things are getting difficult, partner is teaching children to trust God.

Pray for the children ministry in Lesotho:

  • Pray that children will give their time for learning.
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to teach them God’s way.
  • Pray for fund needed to build teachers’ toilets.
