Running in Ultra-marathon for Nepal Earthquake Appeal

In an attempt to raise HK$1 million for the people affected by the earthquake in Nepal, Mr. Kilias Hung has just finished a week-long 250 km ultra-marathon in Ecuador on 1 August.  CEDAR Fund, the beneficiary organization of this race, calls for continued public support of Kilias’s endeavor, as every dollar will help the neglected communities in Nepal to resume their normal life and livelihood.

The Church Without Walls | Rev. Pak Loh

[Sharing on the trip to Nepal]

In early June, we were sent to Nepal for the earthquake relief. We joined our local partner Leadership Training Department (LTD) and brought food aid to a remote village in Gorkha, located near the epicenter of the first earthquake on April 25. It was already midnight when we arrived. All ladies were arranged to stay in a temporary metal hut while the men were to sleep on the ground in a literally wall-less church. What an experience!

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

In the early morning of April 25, I returned to Hong Kong after attending a Forum on Reconcilation for NE Asia in Nagasaki, Japan, in which Christians from China, Japan, Korea and the States gathered to discuss possible reactions to those pains from the Second World War. And just a few hours later, Nepal was badly hit by a magnitude 7.9 earthquake. Up to now carrying out relief and rehabilitation work is still very difficult and many Nepalese are in dire need of help.

Nepal Earthquake Relief: After One Month – the Risk is Still Here

On April 25, a magnitude-7.9 earthquake struck Nepal and brought severe damages to 14 provinces in the middle part of the country. The quake has killed over 8,600 people and injured close to 21,000, leaving 750,000 houses in ruins. Two weeks after, on May 12, east of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu was hit by another magnitude-7.4 quake. With their lives under threat again, the affected people couldn’t help but ask, “Can the quake stop? It’s enough!”
